"My name is Osamah Ba Hamid. I'm a graduate student, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Management Information Systems at the University of Arizona. My focus is on the intersection of data, technology, and business processes to help organizations make better decisions. This summer I had the opportunity to apply those interests at Shamrock Foods Company.

I worked as a Data Maintenance Intern with the Data Governance and Enterprise Data Management team on the MoR (Manufacture of Records) project. I helped review and improve data maintenance processes, learned how teams make sure business information is accurate and consistent, and worked with colleagues across the organization. I also participated in the Rockin’ Business Challenge where my team researched whether RFID technology would be feasible in warehouse operations, and presented our findings to company leaders. These experiences enhanced my data analysis, problem solving, teamwork and business presentation skills.

The data is reliable when we do our job well, enabling those who rely on it every day, including operational teams and decision makers. My work further helped me gain insight into how careful practices with data can help reduce confusion and support better processes at a large company. The RFID challenge also taught me to evaluate a promising technology against real business needs before recommending it. I am grateful to Shamrock Foods for the chance to learn from its teams and to the Hadhramout Foundation for supporting my education and professional growth."
